Lorenz Kunath

Things that expand, evaporate or change their boundaries in some other way; In the works of Lorenz Kunath it usually revolves around a form of change, transition or “weirding”. For this he uses a painting which is oriented towards the visual languages of photography and film. In this way, questions of these indexical media are once again negotiated within the framework of painting.

Born in Vienna in 1994, Lorenz Kunath has been studying painting and animation film with Judith Eisler since 2015. In 2019, he completed a semester abroad at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Since 2019 he works as an assistant in the studio of Xenia Hausner.
